Lim
Meet Esther Young Lim, the visionary behind the groundbreaking series of booklets, "How to Report a Hate Crime." Her journey began in 2020 as a grassroots effort to protect her Korean-American parents during a troubling surge of negative Covid-19 rhetoric that fueled discrimination against Asians.
Esther's determination and dedication have led to the printing and distribution of over 160,000 physical booklets nationwide, with tens of thousands more downloaded. The booklets' impact extends far beyond English-speaking communities, as they have been translated into 18 different languages, addressing the pressing needs of diverse populations.
Recognizing the immense demand for her booklets worldwide, Esther made a courageous decision to dive into the non-profit world. She followed her passion and left her full-time job to fully commit to meeting this urgent need and making a lasting difference in the lives of countless individuals.
In addition to her remarkable booklet initiative, Esther has taken it a step further by organizing and executing a series of impactful workshops. These workshops serve as platforms to educate communities on their rights, empowering individuals to speak up against discrimination, and actively work towards building equity in marginalized communities.
Esther Young Lim's unwavering commitment to promoting safety, understanding, and unity among diverse communities has inspired positive change on a remarkable scale. Through her non-profit endeavors, she continues to be a driving force for education, empowerment, and positive transformation. Join her in this vital mission as she leads the way towards a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
Esther currently is Board Chair for Los Angeles District Attorney’s AAPI Advisory Board. She also is a Restorative Justice Facilitator for Victim-Offender Dialogue through the Restorative Justice Mediation Program & a certified Trauma Responsive Victim Advocate through The Prosecutor’s Alliance.
